Packwood House

1/04/2023

Packwood House, set in the Warwickshire countryside, was initially built by a family of farmers in the 16th century. During the years until the 1900s, the house was passed around to several different owners until 1904, when Alfred Ash bought the house and 134 acres, who bought it for his son Baron Ash. In 1918 Baron Ash returned to Packwood after spending time in the Royal Flying Corps and decided to restore the house in the 1920s. Due to the house being decorated in a Victorian style, Baron transformed it back into the Jacobean house it used to be. He changed it so much that he decided to add a great hall to keep the link to the Jacobean style, by renovating the cow shed near the house. However, after the death of his parents, Baron Ash decided to donate the estate, the collections and £30,000 to the National Trust in memory of his parents.
