Welford Park

Welford Park is located in the Berkshire countryside, surrounded by dense woodland and country lanes. Before the house was built, a monastery, under the care of the local monks, was situated within Welford Park. In 1536 King Henry VIII dissolved the monastery and turned the estate into his own deer hunting lodge. The house visitors see today was built by Sir Francis Jones in 1652. The house remained a family home for the Jones/Archer family for many years with no adaptions to the house. 1831 saw the house ownership going to Charles Eyre, grandson to a previous Archer owner, and renovated the place to keep up the current style of the 1800s by adding the large front gate and redirecting the main road to go around the estate.
